Mel Chilianis
I am an improvising musician, sound artist and composer with an interest in graphic notation and sketching. Over the years I’ve been a performer (flutes), a music teacher and an academic. Something that has continued from when I was young — whether experimenting with tape recorders, writing atonal compositions or producing electroacoustic music — is a curiousity and engagement with sound. And its continuity and disruptions with music.
Some of the things I like: are lizards, silent cranes, miffy, pastitsio, laksa, cats, silver eyes and desert goats.
I live and work on unceded Wurundjeri and Woiwurrung lands of the Kulin Nation. All settler-colonialism is violent, then and now.
